What Is The Discipleship Training School?

The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a program of Youth With A Mission (YWAM).
The purpose of the DTS is to prepare Christians for the mission field by edifying a solid foundation and a Biblical world view in the lives of the participants. This goal is achieved by teachings focused on knowing God, personal guidance to mold a Christ-like character, and by serving in the mission field for some time.

The DTS is an intensive course of 24 weeks; twelve weeks of classes and twelve weeks of practice in the mission field. Each week of classes is dedicated to a specific topic. Besides classes, daily meetings will be held for praise and worship, intercession, personal  and group counseling, fellowship, etc. The daily schedule includes also times for work duties and physical labor.

What are the topics studied in the DTS?

The Christian and his God

This area includes topics like: Knowing God in a more personal way; how to listen to His voice and understand His will; how to lead a devotional life; understanding God's character, His sovereignty over all things and circumstances; His way to deal with our lives; etc.

The Christian and his Bible

How to read, study and meditate in the Word of God and apply His Word in our
personal lives and ministries. How to live according to Biblical principles.
The Bible is considered as the ultimate and absolute authority.

The Christian and his Relationships

How to love our neighbor; what should be our attitude towards our parents, authorities, those under our authority, other Christians, co-workers in the mission field and
towards those who don't know Christ. What is God's plan for marriage and engagement?

The Christian and his enemy

Knowing the strategies of the enemy and understanding the authority of Christ. Understanding our responsibility in spiritual warfare in order to establish God's Kingdom in our lives and in this world.

The Christian and his Message

The message of salvation and eternal life in Christ and living a life in agreement with His Word is the message for all nations of all times. How to take this message until the ends of the earth.

How and Where Will the DTS Be Held?

The twelve week classroom time will be held at the
TARAHUMARA CHRISTIAN CENTER in

Creel Chihuahua, Mexico. The classes will be taught by DTS staff members and guest teachers who have experience in the mission

field and much understanding of the Word of God.

During the twelve weeks of practice the students will be sent out in groups of two or more to different locations in the Sierra Tarahumara in order to put in practice what they have learned during the lecture phase and to experiment life in the mission field.

Who is YWAM?

Youth With A Mission is a Christian mission organization with ten bases in Mexico and over a thousand bases all over the world. The primary purpose of this organization is to make disciples of all nations of the whole world and to fulfill this Great Commission working together with the local churches established in every nation.

YWAM Statement of purpose:

Youth With A Mission is an international movement of Christians from many denominations dedicated to presenting Jesus Christ personally to this generation, to mobilize as many as possible to help in this task, and to the training and equipping of believers for their part in fulfilling the Great Commission.

As Christians of God’s Kingdom, we are called to love, worship, and obey our Lord, to love and serve His body, the Church, and to present the whole gospel for the whole man throughout the whole world.

We in Youth With A Mission believe that the Bible is God’s inspired and authoritative word, revealing that Jesus Christ is God’s Son, that man is created in God’s image, that He created us to have eternal life through Jesus Christ, That although all men have sinned and come short of God’s glory, God has made salvation possible through the death on the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that repentance, faith, love, and obedience are the fitting responses to God’s initiative of grace toward us, that God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth, and that the Holy Spirit’s power is demonstrated in and through us for the accomplishing of Christ’s last commandment,
“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

“...Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and here, I am with you always, even to the end of the ages....” (Mathew 28:19-20)
